Our product changes and updates for October 2023

PUBLISHED: 20 August 2023 | LAST UPDATED: 31 January 2024

To offer high quality cover and support to your global clients, we review our products twice a year. Here are the key changes and updates which will apply from 1st October 2023.

Global health plans for SME groups
For your SME clients with a Global Health Plan, we're excited that we're now able to offer the Health Check benefit across the Standard1 and Comprehensive levels of cover too. As with clients covered on the Prestige or Prestige Plus levels of cover, these levels can now benefit from a contribution towards the cost of one health check, per year2.

Details on the limits of this benefit can be found in our summary of benefits and Hong Kong onshore summary of benefits or their membership handbook.

Child only policies
To ensure we're able to communicate appropriately during the lifecycle of a child only policy and to meet contractual requirements, we'll need to gain some additional parent/guardian details at the time of application.

These include; their full name, date of birth, postal address, email address and telephone number. If you have any queries, please speak to your AXA representative.

These changes apply to plans insured by AXA PPP healthcare Limited, AXA Insurance dac, XL Catlin Insurance Company UK Limited and Optimum Global Insurance Company Limited.

Rules and benefit adjustments

Genetic testing
The eligibility criteria for genetic testing has been broadened to help choose the best treatment for your client's condition. We'll now cover testing to choose the best treatment - previously only testing for the most suitable drug treatment was covered4

Membership handbooks have been updated to clarify the rules for how certain conditions are covered.

Removal of STI exclusion
The wording which stated that we don't cover treatment for sexually transmitted diseases/infections has been removed from membership handbooks4

See membership handbooks for full detail or speak to your AXA representative for more information.

Updates to our provider network
As a proactive healthcare partner, we’re always looking ahead to deliver better healthcare outcomes and experiences for your clients.

Islands Health Plan
Many of your clients based in the Channel Islands wish to travel the UK mainland for treatment, so we’ve added the Southampton General Hospital to the list of eligible providers within the Directoy of Hospitals. This means they don’t have to travel further afield to access treatment.

MSH China network of providers
Your clients based in China, can now receive out-patient treatment at all hospitals and clinics across the MSH China network of providers.

All they need to do is show their MSH China network access card along with a valid form of national identity (ID Card), when they go to their appointment.

If they’re visiting a healthcare provider outside of China, they'll continue to use their AXA – Global Healthcare card.

Don’t forget to explore Virtual Care from AXA
The Virtual Doctor, Mind Health and Second Medial Opinion services can now all be accessed in one place; with the Virtual Care from AXA app or portal.

Take a look at our handy videos and guides about each of our services.

To make sure your clients make the most use of their Virtual Doctor service, our partner Teledoc Health will keep in contact with clients throughout the year. Click here to find out more.
