International cover for cancer

What is international private health cover for cancer care?

International private health insurance provides diagnosis, treatment and aftercare for cancer, no matter where you are in the world. The healthcare services you can access depend on the type of cover you choose and what your plan includes.

Navigating a cancer diagnosis is tough — especially if you’re abroad. That’s why all our levels of cover include cancer care, including chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

Outpatient care is included on our Comprehensive, Prestige and Prestige Plus levels of cover, which covers you for out-of-hospital routine monitoring.* You can also add this to our Foundation and Standard cover — giving you peace of mind, whichever type of cover you choose.

This means that you don’t have to worry about getting access to high-quality cancer treatment if you face a diagnosis.

    Cancer care cover FAQs

This depends which insurance provider you opt for and what’s stated in your cover.

For example, with AXA Global Healthcare, as long as the treatments you receive are licensed by the leading governing bodies we follow:

    • Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
    • Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA)
    • European Medical Agency (EMA).

they’ll be covered in your plan.

Yes — it’s best to keep your insurer up to date with your situation as this could affect what you’re covered for.

For example, with AXA Global Healthcare, if you’re in active treatment, then your follow-up consultations will be covered under cancer care. But if you’re in remission, then your follow-up consultations will be under our outpatient cover, which isn’t included in all our plans. So, it’s best to keep us informed so we can help you navigate what you’re covered for on your plan.

This depends on your personal needs, circumstances and budget.

Different insurance plans with different providers offer different types of cover. So, it’s always best to speak to your insurance provider before purchasing as they can answer all questions you might have.

The benefit of having international health insurance is that you have access to active cancer treatment at home and abroad. It doesn’t matter where you are in the world as international health insurance gives you global access to private medical care, depending on what’s covered in your plan.

At AXA Global Healthcare, we offer five levels of cover, which all include cover for active cancer treatment.

If you’re looking for end-of-life care, we offer this on our Prestige and Prestige Plus cover. With this, you’ll have access to treatment to relieve and manage symptoms during this time.
